My first thought here is a cold and icy autumn, even if this piece shows us a grassy and growing hill.
The main part here, the tree, tells a long tale. I can see lovers chatting under it, small children climbing up and down there - every part of its history lies within the ubiquitous leaves and sticks. I can tell that this tree are placed far, far away; but also at a place where people are. The fact that there is no leaves under the tree can mean that someone removes them regularly?
The outer parts of the tree are a bit dark, and that's really somewhat strange.
The sky also helps us to find the story behind this. The magnificent colors, the low fog. It lights up everything in the most romantic way possible! I would think of the facing direction here as east, (with other words, it's morning), mainly because of the fog.
I really fancy the frame used, it gives us a very rustic feeling by just looking the frame. It fits in very well with the colors, but is a bit blurry.

When I look at it, I'm thinking of this as a picture that could be hanging in my living room (at a small size format). It's really, really good.
